This clearly demonstrates how unlikely it will be to arrive at a set
of representations that will immediately suggest the same sounds to
everyone. Each of us will find parts of any transcription that require
conscious effort to interpret correctly until practice takes over.
It's just something we have to live with.

(BTW, ZC Vulcan currently has no vowel like the <a> in AmEng "back.")
