RE: Zvelebil/Epstein/McReynold Comparison Ryan McReynolds Fri, 10 Jul 1998 16:52:19 -0500 > y ai ai ? p_ie_ > oy oi oi ? b_oy_ > McReynolds: spok t'h?la brakh shikar th'spaxera > McReynolds: th'spatsura th'kro?ja whl'q'n t'hyle'? These sort of things would have to be decided (primarily by Marketa) on a case by case basis based only on how they should be pronounced. Personally, my system just lacks separate "letters" for and as seen in the original text. Because and (or and )are different things, it really just depends on how we want each word that uses them to sound. The difference really isn't all that apparent in fast speech. One note: and are not used in any English words, to the best of my knowledge, and that would help to add to the alienness of Vulcan, eh? Because I don't have an or in my system, I would simply use for it. If, by chance, my system gains no popularity and I am the sole person who likes it, the newly patented "Zook Method" is definately my second choice, with its vowel+ digraphs. Until it comes down to that, I'll hold out on my own! -McReynolds
