What does kahr mean then? Well, I can see a number of ways of resolving this. I had forgotten that there were a couple of cities with the kahr ending, so I never screened out 'city' as already having a meaning. So we could change the vulcan translation of 'city' to <. Alternatively, we could leave < as a word for 'city', and let kahr have a more archaic meaning, like "gathering or meeting place", or "place to find a well". Given the history of Vulcan as presented in _Spock's World_, those would seem likely meanings.
