Because, like, girls rule! :) We transcend logic and stuff like that.

I bet the real reason is that if everyone was named after Surak, after
a while you would run out of names.... It probably also has to do with
the fact that Surak was a guy. Have you ever seen any gals named after
Jesus? My point exactly.
