A plenty of alternatives is a classic scenario for what is known as "paralysis by analysis"... a very common organizational dysfunction. In focusing on one, or a few, understood alternatives, the nature of the problem becomes itself more understood. Other alternatives then come to forefront, and enhance the overall solution beyond that which could be developed by any one done in isolation. The problem that often ensues, is impatience. Understanding a solution can take time. Patience in experimentation gives results. One try, then another, then another... For comparison, the Terran history of Edison's development of light bulb filaments might be useful reading.
